The Pučkas farm, located in the Ģibuļu parish of the Talsi district, began operations in 1992 with just 25 hectares of land and one tractor. In 2000, grandson Gatis Folmanis took over the farm, expanding it to 85 hectares and beginning a targeted development program. In 2006, the farm obtained organic farming certification. The following year, with state support, it purchased its first large John Deere tractor.
The varied terrain and wet soil led to the farm's specialization in beef cattle breeding. Today, ZS "Pučkas" is a breeding farm of the Latvian Beef Cattle Breeders Association. It breeds purebred Charolais cattle and sells them for breeding purposes. The herd includes suckler cows and breeding bulls.
The farm currently manages nearly 400 hectares of land, most of which is used for producing fodder: perennial grasslands, grass mixtures, protein crops, red clover, buckwheat, and buckwheat with legumes.
The farm was established and developed through the successful attraction of EAFRD and EU co-financing. With the support of the Rural Support Service, more than five projects have been implemented, including the construction of a new cattle farm and the purchase of modern livestock and crop production equipment, such as loaders, manure spreaders, mowers, presses, balers, and plows.
ZS "Pučkas" aims to become a competitive organic beef cattle breeder and continue developing breeding bull production while ensuring high-quality, environmentally responsible farming.
