"Jāņlejas" Ltd in Ance Parish, Ventspils Municipality is a family business that with hard work and targeted investments, grew from a small farm in 1997 to one of the largest and most productive dairy farms in Latvia, with one of the best milk yields in the country. All important decisions on the farm are made together – Antra is responsible for livestock and finances, while Ainars and his sons are responsible for technology and crop production.
Over time, the farm has become a modern and efficient company that is able to provide high-quality products while managing its operations in an environmentally responsible manner. All fodder is grown on the farm, with careful planning of crops and maintaining a balance between crop and livestock farming. The herd was built up gradually, selecting only the best animals and supplementing them with high-yielding young stock to ensure high productivity.
In recent years, the farm has experienced rapid development thanks to significant investments co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. As a result of these investments, a silage storage facility has been built, modern equipment has been purchased, and solar panels have been installed, which promote both production efficiency and sustainability. The farm has also started construction of a new cattle farm for dairy cows and a new slurry storage facility. Special attention is paid to proper manure management in order to reduce nitrogen emissions into the air and comply with environmental protection requirements. Therefore, the farm strives to reach its full potential by producing high-quality and competitive products in accordance with the principles of sustainable farming.
"Jāņlejas" Ltd also actively shares its experience with the next generation of farmers providing internship opportunities for students in the agricultural sector. For its contribution to the development of the sector and the region, the Ventspils County Municipality awarded the company the title of "Most Viable Company in Ventspils County" in 2024.
