In Carnikava, where the Gauja River meets the Gulf of Riga, an unusual project has been realised with the support of the European Union. SIA 'Carnikavas Kuģītis' has expanded the boating services offered on the banks of the Gauja River by introducing the motorised recreational raft 'Koivemundi', which offers a comprehensive recreational experience on the water. Equipped with a sauna, hot tub, two SUP boards, rowboats and many other amenities, the raft is suitable for both exciting adventures and relaxing getaways.
It can accommodate up to 12 guests on deck and is designed so that visitors can enjoy spending several hours on it, regardless of the weather. With families and active recreation enthusiasts in mind, it is equipped with a children’s slide, an off-grid power supply, lighting, a sound system and a grill. It also has two SUP boards and two rowboats for exploring the shallower reaches of the river. The raft is also accessible to people with mobility impairments thanks to its well-designed handrails and mobile ramp.
Safety and mobility are key considerations, which is why a specialised transport trailer for the raft and a separate trailer for the boats have been purchased. This is necessary in cases where weather conditions change rapidly at sea, enabling the team to transport the raft to a safer and more convenient location if necessary.
The project not only contributes significantly to the leisure activities of local residents, but also promotes foreign tourism. Since Carnikava is just half an hour from Riga, the raft is an excellent reason for travellers to venture off the usual routes and explore Carnikava and its surroundings. This enables visitors to experience Latvia’s untouched coastal landscape and diverse nature safely and comfortably.
