“Ūši” – a place where the sea, Livonian heritage and hospitality meet
On the northern edge of Kolka village, where waves from two seas meet and pine trees scent the air, lies the Ūši farmstead – a place with ancient roots and Livonian heritage. Here, at the very end of Kurzeme, travelers discover not only the majesty of the sea and the charm of Kolkasrags, but also the warm hospitality that makes this place so special.
In order to diversify services and become more accessible to hikers and cyclists, a holiday home was built with the support of the European Agricultural Fund and the project "Creation of a service for hikers and cyclists" was implemented. Special rooms and equipment – closets for drying clothes and shoes, laundry facilities, a sauna for relaxation, a shared dining room, and bicycle storage have been built on the premises. These facilities are particularly important for nature lovers, allowing them to recharge their batteries after a long day and enjoy the peace and quiet by the sea. The sea laps at the back of the house, and guests can enjoy both cycling trips and meals with the hosts. A special place in the "Ūšu" offer is occupied by traditional Livonian flavors - sklandrauši, bukstiņbiezputra and other ancient dishes, which can be tasted in tastings and master classes. Sklandrausis, which is made right here, has also been awarded the Guaranteed Traditional Speciality label, confirming its authenticity and cultural value.
The quality of the farm is confirmed by several significant awards – the Green Certificate, the Latvian Heritage Mark, and the Pedestrian-Friendly Certificate. For more than ten years, Ūši has proudly carried the Green Certificate, confirming its commitment to living and working in harmony with nature.
Every year, the farm participates in Slītere Travel Days, sharing its knowledge and traditions, as well as promoting both tourism opportunities and the Livonian culinary heritage. This is a story about a place that is at once home, history, taste, feeling, and nature.
