European Court of Auditors is showing an interest in the IT system of the Rural Support Service of Latvia
Today, on April 17, Eduardo Ruiz Garcia, Secretary-General of the European Court of Auditors (ECA); Alfonso de la Fuente Garrigos, Head of the ECA Secretary-General office; Mihail Kozlov, ECA representative from Latvia and Laura Graudina visited the Rural Support Service of Latvia (RSS) to evaluate the possibilities for wider use of IT in the audit processes.
During the meeting, RSS director and other specialists presented developed IT systems used to administer the national and EU support to agriculture. Particular attention was paid to process of system development and those aspects that enabled RSS to develop a highly rated IT system. The success is based on the fact that RSS always takes into account customer preferences, provides support in the system use, works closely with system developers, but most important - the system is easy to use and understandable to its users.
It has been possible for all farmers in Latvia to apply for area payments electronically, thereby guests were highly interested in this success, which allows proceed with payments faster and reduces the error rate made by customers. RSS specialists presented the project administration system, the mobile control performance as well as other topical issues during the meeting.
Both, representatives of ECA and RSS admitted that this has been a very successful starting point for further cooperation!
